The Great Australian Toilet Paper Frenzy
As the world prepares for a coronavirus pandemic, Down Under you can’t find a bog roll to save yourself
It’s 4 March 2020 and you can’t find pack of toilet paper in the shops.
Aussies, known for our laid back nature and propensity to abbreviate words that are already two syllables or less, are panic buying.
Not soup or medication or face masks.
Nup, dunny paper.
I seem to have missed the memo that said that we are in imminent danger of a nation wide outbreak of bacillary dysentery.
Alas no, we are bracing ourselves for a coronavirus pandemic. We have 47 reported cases in Australia.
Of a respiratory disease.
But don’t let statistics and common sense get in the away of a good panic-driven stampede at the supermarket.
Well actually you’ve missed the rush. That ended this morning. Now the shelves look like this.
Not a bog roll in sight.
